I’m Josh Hayes, and I established Southern Tree Care in 2015 (incorporated in 2018) after working as a tree surgeon for many years.
Since then, the business has boomed – driven largely by word-of-mouth recommendations from happy clients – and our team has expanded to include three more qualified “tree fellas” who work alongside me.
The business is based in the splendid Cathedral city of Salisbury in Wiltshire, but we offer our services – tree surgery, hedge trimming, stump grinding, firewood, fencing and landscaping – over a much wider area. We work throughout Wiltshire and across the county border into Hampshire and Dorset when requested.
The Southern Tree Care team are all professional tree surgeons with the relevant NTPC City & Guilds qualifications under our belts, backed up by years of practical experience. We’re competent to safely use the heavy machinery and equipment that our job demands.
We pride ourselves in our wide theoretical and academic knowledge about trees and the problems that affect them – and the problems they can cause.
We’re also clued up on the legalities and regulations surrounding trees and hedges, especially those in conservation areas, and unlike many tree surgeons we plant trees as well as prune them.
Our customers are mainly private homeowners, but we do contract work for commercial and agricultural concerns as well. We take care of hedges and trees on many country estates and work for local authorities.
To us it is very important that all our work is carried out in compliance with British Standard 3998 which contains “Recommendations for Tree Work”, designed for the guidance of professional arboriculture.
This standard emphasises that trees are worthy of respect as living organisms, and we don’t lose sight of that when we undertake tree surgery, aiming to leave the trees healthy and looking as natural as possible.
